Heat Treatment Guidelines
Annealing: Heat to 850 – 870 °C, hold for 2 h, furnace cool to 600 °C at < 20 °C/h, then air cool.
Pre-Heat: Preheat at 815 – 840 °C before hardening.
Hardening: Heat to 995 – 1,040 °C, hold 15–40 min, then air or oil quench.
Tempering: Double-temper at 540 – 650 °C (1 h per temper) to achieve 38 – 53 HRC.
