Heat Treatment Guidelines

– Annealing: Heat uniformly to 710–750 °C, hold 1 h per 25 mm, furnace cool at 10–20 °C/h to 600 °C, then air cool.

– Forging: Preheat to 650–700 °C, heat to 980–1065 °C for forging; slow furnace or insulated cool to avoid cracking.

– Hardening: Preheat to 650 °C; austenitize at 900–950 °C, hold 10–20 min; quench in oil.

– Tempering: Double-temper at 150–250 °C (1 h per temper) to achieve 55–58 HRC and maximize impact toughness.
