Heat Treatment Guidelines

– Annealing: Heat to 680–700 °C, hold 1 h per 25 mm, furnace cool to 600 °C at ≤20 °C/h, then air cool.

– Hardening: Heat to 900–930 °C, hold 15–30 min, quench in oil at 60–80 °C.

– Tempering: Temper at 480–620 °C (soak 1 h per 25 mm), air cool. Adjust for desired hardness/ductility.
